New Pets

Spy Master,

It has been pretty quiet, but I figured you missed my reports. Everything has settled down now that we have the tower. Mary and I spend most of our time in there. There are so many Books and Kitties! And the little homunculus men in there will make me whatever food I want. I have started adding some poetry and adventure books to the Cabaret’s library. Book binding’s not so hard.

Red pulled a couple pieces of cloth off his clothes and they turned into big Dogs! They are such good dogs and they love to play. Red doesn’t like it when they play though, he wants them to guard the house when we’re not there. That’s okay, they can play when we Are home. He’s trying to get even more pets. I think Orange’s monster in a jar has inspired him.

The Dung Sweepers needed help in the sewers. They were afraid of monsters, so we had to go down with them. Red didn’t come, he had real business to do. It’s gross down there. But still, it was pretty quiet. Until that one day. We got to this big nexus room and Catbard and I were in there looking around when Nevi hollered that someone went missing.

Little guy, Jeremiah, wasn’t with his group anymore. We followed some slime back to a smallish pipe and all the little folk went through while the big folk stayed with the Sweepers. We found this huge wormy, leggy monster with a huge mouth and tentacles. Mary Mouse says it’s called a Carry-on Crawlie. They carried Jeremiah away for sure. Orange and Mary kept them distracted while I went over and pulled the little guy off the wall and out of the room. Orange’s shouting called Nevi and Catbard to help us and we finished them off. Mary grabbed some of the eggs before we left, in case Red might want one, and he took some of their poison, too. I think Red took the eggs to sell, but I’m not sure, the dogs were happy we were home and I lost track.

Time to Go Home?

One more tower to go, so we go take look. Is one big room again, like last one. But this one have boxes with windows all up and down the walls. Boxes full of weapons of all sorts. Quint throw Clob at one, but window not break. Big flash of light though.

Floating black armor appear, holding big sword. Says thank you for interest in Hollister treasure, then attacks us. Guess he not really happy. Batty-men come attack us, too. Steve show up, he one crazy puppy now. No worry though, Skeeter kill armor thing hard.

Sword fall, and Quint go diving after. He stop fall before it kill him. Gives me sword when I climb down. It want to kill all the light and shiny good things. We become good friends, Skeeter and Blade of Twilight Doom. Quint and Pastor start breaking open all the boxes. It takes a very long time. Many sleeps, but when they done, all Scootch-fungus gone from us. No more sick and cuddle coughs.

Ghostly wild whole-thing come and stare at us. He no say words, but nod when I ask he Hollister-man. Pastor ask him how to leave. Wild Hollister man just laugh and laugh and laugh so loud we hear him.

Quint say we have all treasure now and it time to go home. We get out castle, and we get out green glow. Now we big again. Head back towards home. But we find door that no supposed to be there. It has magic traps, so Scootch dis-spells at it.

Now we in square room that glow green, but we not small. Floor have lines and bones on it. Things go dark then big bugs with too many legs try eat us. But we squish them good.

Steve go look through all doors with shadow dark sneaky. Says there one with stone dwarves in it, one with spider signs, one full of mirrors, and one say Exit with lots of eyeball monsters.

Skeeter want smash dwarves, so Quint say okay. We go in, torches flare, shadows go away. Skeeter smash stone dwarves. Steve really want to go check out eyeballs with exit. Quint agree.

We go to talk to eyeballs. Lots of broken stone people in here…

Dead Things, Bones and Death

Done breathing, tell Quint about the painted whole things. Quint says they have treasure and charges round the corner with Fishface. Hey, they dead whole things, and boy they Scream so loud. Dead things keep knocking Fishface down, but Marta yells at him to get back up, so he does. They finally stop screaming and Scootch and Margie divide up pile of alchy stuff. I finds a shiny new sickle for Skeeter. Fishface says dead things taste stale.

Round and round we go. Find a locked door. Treasure, Quint says, is behind locked doors. Margie’s rockman breaks down the door and gets acid all over him. Fishface kills his froggie cuz the hallway smelled funny, I guess. Smelly half thing covered in moss in here. Everyone thinks it’s oh so funny, but he dies fast. Fishface, Scootch and Skeeter don’t feel good, but Fishface won’t cuddle. Stupid cough.

Next we find throne room with dancing bones and watching skull. Fishface knocks skull down, Quint puts it back. Marta finds a bag of gold and a magic stick. Fishface knocks the bones aside and sits down. He wants pretend to be king. Margie feeds the skull to her dead spider-wolf. Scootch dis-spells bones and we leave.

Hall full of bright floating candles. Quint take one. Skeeter blow them out. Stupid bright light. Find a slimy trail on the wall. Pick up Scootch, Fishface freaks out. Scootch says they Carrying Crawlers. Cuddle Scootch then put him back down. Scootch dis-spells candles, and they all fall down.

We find hall full of big bugs – Scootches Carrying Crawlers, but they not carrying anything. Bigs nasty things with acid breath. Bugs kill Fishface! Oh no, Fishface!! Skeeter smash them good and dead with Big Sword. Margie burn ’em all up, and Fishface, too. Poor Fishface.
