In Which Zero Learns the Prophecy

Description:

I would like to remind our dear readers that it has been many years since Zero drew these images and I am but a humble scribe, attempting to find meaning in the chaos.

On this day, Zero and her companions arrived at a seaside city. It appears that she observed someone throwing up on on themselves. It also appears that they were warned away from the northeast corner of the city for some reason, and perhaps told to go to the second level of the city. Where they appear to have found an inn called the Juggling Cat. There they had wine of a volcano and rabbit stew and butter.

They look to have then gone to a library of fine construction and many books, where Zero had some juice. Here they learned more of the red moon and the mysterious flower, which appears to have several interpretations. A crest, too, with a mountain, the red moon, and the flower was found.

It looks like she then is trying to convey a rising melody, or a perhaps a journey to be taken. Fiery danger written in poetry. The heart found beneath a tree at the split of a river. After a long and dangerous journey through fire and ice. Through darkness to where the flower shines.

In Which Zero Escapes Sigil

Description:

This entry starts off with the Harmonium, perhaps they went there for help. Though it looks like perhaps there were notices posted about the group instead. They appear to have gone to the Mind’s Eye next, and spoke to the Factol. Whatever they were told looks rather cicular, as they returned back to Cordon’s home for some soup. It unfortunately, looks like there was then a run in with the Hardhats and their electrified man-catchers. Once free of that, they look to have gone to the Civic Festhall, Zero’s own faction headquarters.

It looks like, through some magic trickery, they were led below the city of Sigil, perhaps running from the guards. It appears they found a dirty settlement down below, and a skeleton full of paperwork. Is it possible a rat told Zero to avoid strawberries? I suppose in Sigil, anything is possible. The next few images, do in fact look like she found a group of people eating strawberry cakes in the sewers. Though those little red dots in their chests may have become bat demons. Next we see the return of the colorful wraith and a portal to a starry place with two moons, one red and one white. Naturally, Zero follows her colorful friend through.

It appears as though they arrived in time for a parade in this place where they landed. A well-dressed man greeted then and brought them to what appears to be a town festival. How very nice and fortuitous. It appears that Zero participated in some apple bobbing and then set up to paint pictures for the townsfolk. I’m not sure if there was a corn maze or a very yellow puzzle to complete, as well.

Unfortunately, the second page of notes seems to indicate an attack by a dragon. An earlier part of her notes though, had a very similar shape, so perhaps some part of the parade came alive and attacked the people, and perhaps some of the furniture and cutlery drawn, too. How very exciting! The next image of sitting down for dinner seems to indicate this was dealt with swiftly.

The final images appear to illustrate history or perhaps a song. Sound and silence. Melody and harmony. A forest where perhaps a battle occurred and men died. And a flower beneath an eclipse of the two moons, one red and one white.

In Which Zero Escapes the Mortuary

Description:

It looks like dear Zero woke up again to that same autopsy bed, and with Chroma once again returning her marble to her. Chroma may have also given her a mouse out of concern for her health. It appears her friends may have either captured or killed the Duskman who tried to stop them. They also seem to have solved the puzzle of the door and the levers and the zombie, as well.

It appears the mortuary may have a few unexpected areas – a formal dining room complete with butler. And a garden with a tree living off the dead and three dryads. I think I’ve heard of this, they are sisters, I believe. Zero seems to have talked them into giving her an apple from this tree. I’m not sure I would have accepted such a gift myself.

She records crowds of people next, I have read of fights between groups trying to breach the Mortuary around this time, for it was not just Zero and her friends who could not stay dead, and many factions were up in arms. It appears she also met the demi-lich who writes the obituaries for the city. He must have been truly bored at that time. Perhaps she even got her own while she was there, but letters were not her strong suit.

It appears the group may have simply climbed their way out a body chute to escape. Out into the hive, and that appears to be her friend Beragund’s dog she met soon after. Those could be Cordon’s and Julius’ houses, which it appears were ransacked. Though it looks like one of them might have given her juice to experience.

Next we see the beginnings of a group portrait, the first attempt she has made to capture her companions, though decidedly unfinished. And finally, a cinnamon roll, either from Cordon himself, or one of his many merchant friends.

In Which Zero is Cremated Alive

Description:

A note was later added that this next entry was six months after the last. The intervening entries have not been found, but reports show Zero was active in Sigil during this time, repeatedly dying and returning to life in spectacular and mostly magical ways.

Here, she has awakened on an autopsy table, and is greeted by a skull and, one would guess, an awful miasma of smells. She learns that people are dying and then waking up, and this is making people angry. A flying cat returns her red marble to her, fantastical you say? She was often seen in the company of one Cordon the merchant who had such a flying cat he called Chroma.

It appears that next, she and others she awoke with, for surely at least Cordon was there, and given records of the time, probably an entire group of characters who had been gallivanting around the city together, decided to sneak through the darkened mortuary. If you thought the cat a delusion, she next appears to have witness skeletons and ghosts having a puppet show. I only report what I see in her drawings, you should see her paintings.

It appears they may have next encountered a Duskman and a flesh golem in another room. He, very likely, objected to their attempts to leave and looks to have called a couple minotaur skeletons to help dissuade them. Though it looks like they found a doorway out, and a zombie manning at least one side of the hallway. It looks, however, as though Zero may have perished once again in a horrific fire. Perhaps an incinerator, instead of getting out of the Mortuary that time.

In Which Zero is Turned to Stone

Description:
It looks as though someone wrote down a location for Zero to check out for a new portal, as it is well known she refused to learn to read. The Twisted Fang in the Hive Ward had been closed for quite some time. It appears as though they also describe the location because history shows, she did arrive. It seems as though some chaotic magic found her along the way, and then darkness.

A strangely shaped gate looks to have then appeared to Zero, and a colorful being came through. Greetings were exchanged, perhaps through the use of magic. Some bright light came from the gate, and Zero appears to have responded with fire.

The red dot at the bottom, reports have told are of a red marble she would carry with her from then on. There is a large gap in her journals at this point. Stories have come down to me that she was turned to stone by this very portal and later shattered by an out of control cart. Though, of course, she could not record these experiences at the time.
